Genius Hour

​     Welcome to Genius Hour. This is an opportunity for your child to participate in “Passion Based Learning.” Students will be given 1 hour per week to work on learning something new of their choice. This idea has been taken from what is known as “Google’s 20%.” Google currently gives their employees a regular opportunity to work on learning something new or learning something more in-depth. Some of Google’s best ideas have come from their employees’ autonomy of learning. Click on the buttons below to learn more about Genius Hour.

     The goal of Genius Hour is to give your child the opportunity to learn something new or to extend your child’s learning.  The projects will be based on safe, personal interests.

       Your child will not be officially graded for the projects; however, your child is expected to be accountable for the time used during class. He or she will write a summary about what has been learned and it will be included with his or her report card. Genius Hour will occur every Friday.
